March is Women’s History Month and the 18th Annual Celebrate Women Luncheon was held yesterday at the SIU Student Center in Carbondale, where a Nashville student was recognized. The event honors excellence in a variety of categories, while benefitting womens’ scholarships at SIU. In all, 19 men and women won awards and scholarships from five different organizations. The Women’s Intersport Network for Southern Illinois presented Nashville High School senior Shawn Rennegarbe with the “Outstanding Female High School Athlete” award. Rennegarbe is a 4-time winner of the Southern Illinoisan “Golfer of the Year’ award and maintains a perfect 4.0 point grade average.
