Updating the story of layoffs at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Centralia and Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Public Relations spokesperson Rose Aldag-McVey tells WNSV that there are 55 positions going to be eliminated, but that some of those positions don’t currently have anyone in place, so only 36 people will be affected between the two hospitals. The consolidation is across the board and that is why some of the positions are being cut. Also, some employees may be relocated. She says services will not be affected. Those that will be losing their job will receive a severance package and SSM Healthcare will try to help them find another job. More information on what specific jobs are affected will be released later this month.
