The Illinois Department of Transportation recently awarded construction contracts for road and bridge improvements in Washington County, according to State Senator Kyle McCarter. Transportation officials held a bid letting August 2nd and awarded a contract for the resurfacing of 3.76 miles of County Highway 13 from White Church road to Illinois Route 15 for $1.1 million to Kilian Corporation out of Mascoutah. They also approved bridge replacement on Township Road 145 over Elkhorn Creek, 2 miles southeast of Stone Church for $487,888 to Depew and Owen Builders, Incorporated of Centralia. No word on when these projects will begin or be completed at this time.
