The Nashville Community High School Board of Education met last night for their regular monthly meeting.  Superintendent Wendy Davis presented the 2013 School Report Card to the Board.  It will be on the school website at the end of October.  There were 431 students in the school with an average of 16.8 students per class.  The attendance rate for the school was 95 percent, slightly above the state average of 94.2 percent.  The majority of the funding comes from local property taxes, at 50.9 percent.  General State Aid was 16.4 percent at $1.38 million, but Davis says it is going to be under $1 million this year.  The graduation rate in 4 years was at 78.1 percent, below the state average of 83.2 percent.  The 5-year average was at 86.9 percent with the State average at 87 percent.    Addressing the test scoring of the Prairie State Achievement Examination, Davis says the school has done well.  By examining the PSAE, the students taking the test in 2011-20012 scored above the State numbers , but the students taking the test the following year were even higher above the State numbers.  Then, looking at the Adequate Yearly Progress report, NCHS students met the standards set in Reading, but they did not in Mathematics, as the standards keep going up.  Davis isn’t sure any Illinois school met all the standards.  It will all change, just like it has been recently, says Davis.   It added writing this year and will be scrapped next year for a more growth based testing model.  So it may not be immediate to see the growth next year.
