It’s time for the Chili Cook-Off at the final Nashville High School football game this Friday and NCHS art students will have a fundraising booth to sell pottery bowls from 5 to 7 PM.  Bowls will range in price depending on the size and shape with approximately 50 to 60 bowls for sale.  A few ceramic pieces will be for sale through a raffle drawing.  All bowls are food safe and can be functionally used.  Bowls will range in size, shape, and glaze color.  Some bowls are made with earthenware clay and some are from stoneware clay. They can be functionally used or viewed as a beautiful piece of art.  Art students that are helping at the booth are also volunteering their time to paint faces for the younger children attending the event.  Art teacher Danielle Schultz says this is a fundraiser event for the current upper level art students with all monies earned to be used towards entry fees for an annual art event called the “Chalk Walk” in the spring.  NCHS art students will compete with other surrounding art students from other high schools in a chalk medium art competition held in Steelville Illinois.  Groups of 4 to 5 students sketch their ideas of how they plan to visually communicate a specific theme.  Then the students are given a section of black top space to create their group’s chalk mural.  Murals are judged at the end of the day and awards are given out to the top murals.
