Congressman John Shimkus was in Nashville yesterday, as part of his duty to the voters is to visit and let them know what is going on in Washington, D.C. He talked about many issues and one dealt with how people should get involved and let their government officials know how they feel and their concerns don’t fall on deaf ears. Yes, they listen to the people, but sometimes their concerns are dealt with specialized staff members, such as for veteran’s or social security benefits, but if it is a public policy, he will hear about it and then a meeting might be set up. This also deals with how to contact their local, state or federal representatives. Shimkus talked about how it has changed on contacting him. It has changed over this time as it is easier to send him an email. That can be done by getting on the computer and looking up John Shimkus and find the federal, official sight. He says another way to make your feelings or concerns heard, is through the election. Many have been very close and a few votes here and there can make a difference, so get out and vote in the primary election.
