The Okawville Village Board met last night and Village Clerk Waylan Jasper says they approved $250 donations to the Okawville High School Post Prom and Washington County Simply the Best program.  They approved the purchase of a riding lawn mower from Riechmann Brothers for a total of $4,300 after trade-in.  The Board also approved the purchase of 20 new 6 foot by 6 foot Christmas light displays to go on poles around town at a cost of $7,050 from Blacher Illumination of Christopher.  They approved the closing of some roads for the Cupcake Classic on March 29th.  This will include Hanover and 5th Streets.  There were 2 ordinances approved, which will now allow the properties to be put up for sale.  This includes the old water tower property at 400 North Elkton Street and the property at 105 East Walnut Street, where the old Blanche’s Store was.  A used generator will be purchased from Oakley Services for the price of $18,973.74 to be used where ever it is needed as it is portable.  They also okayed bid seeking for a new police pursuit-rated vehicle.  Circle K had applied for a Class A liquor license, as they have a Class B license.  This would allow them to have video games in the business, but this was not approved.  The Board did approve engineering and designing for a project by Curry & Associates Engineers of Nashville for $19,000.  This will be to replace old water lines in the Front End Street that are nearly 80 years old that keep breaking.  The next meeting will be on Monday, March 31st.
