Election Day is next Tuesday.  We’ve run through the Washington County Ballot on the candidates, but there a couple of other items on the ballot for some cities or villages.  The topic of allowing for electrical aggregation is on the ballot for the City of Wamac, and Villages of Addieville, DuBois, Irvington, Richview and Venedy.  This is to allow the local government to arrange for the supply of electricity for its residential and small commercial retailers, at hopefully, a lower price.  Also, for those in the Ashley Fire District, there is a proposition to increase the extension limitation, which would be increased from the lesser of 5 percent or the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index over the prior levy year to 40 percent per year for 2014.  For the 2014 tax levy year, the approximate amount of the additional tax extendable against property, containing a single family residence and having a fair market value at the time of the referendum of $100,000, is estimated to be $44.  There are 23 polling places in Washington County and polls open at 6 AM and close at 7 PM.  For more information on polling places in your community, contact the Washington County Clerk & Recorder’s Office at 327-4800, extension 300.
