It will be time for the dog rabies vaccination clinics in Washington County in the first week of May.  Clinics will be open at 8:30 each morning, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  They will stop a various town buildings, as they will be at each location for approximately a half hour, with 15 minutes driving time between each location.  Owners can choose from a 1 year or 3 year rabies vaccine, but dogs under 1-year old can only get the 1 year shot.  There is a county ordinance that every owner of a dog four months old and older, needs to get their dog vaccinated against rabies and get it registered.  The Animal Control Warden will be present at all clinics.  Any person failing to comply with this ordinance faces an offense charge and up to $500 in fines.  The cost is $10 for the 1 year vaccine or $25 for the 3-year vaccine.  Registration is $4, while there is an additional $10 registration fee for both male and female dogs that have not been spayed or neutered.  This additional fee goes into the pet population control fund for the state. If you have any questions, call the Washington County Animal Control at 327-4800, extension 355.  We will announce the locations for each day in a couple of weeks.
