Larry Paul Aydt, 82, of Dahglren, IL passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL.

Larry was born February 23, 1941 in Piopolis, IL the son of Paul & Johanna (Forster) Aydt.  On October 7, 1967 he married Martha Kay (Sights) Aydt, who preceded him in death.

Larry had worked as an operator for the Pillsbury Grain Elevator in McLeansboro, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served as a Medic.  He was a longtime member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren, and later became a member of the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis.

He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed gardening, going to antique tractor shows, and taking road trips with his wife Martha.  He enjoyed visiting with friends & neighbors at the Hamson’s station in Dahglren, and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Larry is survived by 2 sons: Kenneth Aydt of Mt. Vernon, IL and Dennis Aydt of Dahlgren, a grandson Levi Aydt of Mt. Vernon, IL; a brother Don (Lois) Aydt of Piopolis, 2 sisters: Juanita (Gerard) Wellen of Piopolis and Pat (Albert) Anselment of Dahlgren, a close friend Albert Wuebbels, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul & Johanna Aydt, and his wife Martha Kay Aydt.

Funeral services for Larry Paul Aydt will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023 at the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren, IL with Fr. Slawomir Ptak officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11 at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with a Recitation of the Rosary ceremony at 7:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the funeral service at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Cemetery in Dahlgren with military honors provided by the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106.
