CENTRALIA — Centralia is mourning the passing of a local hero.

Current Centralia Fire Protection District Administrator and retired Fire Chief Greg Earle passed away Friday after a long battle with cancer.

According to CFPD, Earle was a former President of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association and a 35-year member of the fire service and served on numerous boards including the Marion County ETSB as an executive board member. and was a Charter Member of the South Central Illinois Fire Chiefs Association.

Visitation for Chief Greg Earle will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Rock Church 515 Airport Road Centralia, Illinois 62801. A fire service walk-through will take place at 5 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at the church with a Fire Department service and Bell Ceremony.
