CENTRALIA — Greg Earle, 65, of Centralia, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on Sunday, October 19th, 1958 in Centralia, Illinois to Jim and Peggy (Crowley) Earle. He married Lee Ann Deaton on August 27, 1977 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia and she survives him.
Greg was a beloved husband to Lee Ann Earle for 46 years, a devoted father to Morgan Barrall and fiance Justin Gyorkos, and a loving grandfather to Hannah Barrall and Emma Barrall. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews Pat Schwartz, Nathan Jones, Sean Earle, Mariah Kolessar, and Shan Lackey.
Greg was a graduate of Centralia High School Class of 1976. In his younger years he worked at Firestone as Manager in Centralia. He then became an entrepreneur starting Evergreen Landscaping in 1987 and continued for many years. He was known for his skill in operating his Bobcat and mini excavator. Greg then went to the Centralia Fire Protection District to help his long time friend Gib Lynch. He had a successful career with the Centralia Fire Protection District for 34 years, while working his way up to Fire Chief before retiring. He was known for his dedication to the community and served as President of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association from 2019-2020. Greg also served on the CFPD board and the area 911 board for many years. Greg commented that he could have not of served the Centralia Community without the understanding and support from his loving wife and daughter for all the time he dedicated serving his community.
From the outpouring love and support for Greg and his family during this difficult time, the Visitation will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Rock Church 515 Airport Road Centralia, Illinois 62801. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at the church. In memory of Greg, memorial donations may be made to the Centralia Fire Protection District and will be accepted by the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, Illinois 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Earle family.
