CENTRAL CITY — Hermie D. Miller, 82, of Central City, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

He was born July 10, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of Lloyd Bradley and Helen (Anderson) Kunz. He married Rose Hair on July 24, 1986, and she survives.

In addition to his wife of 36 years, Rose Miller of Central City, he is also survived by his five children: Kristi Bodine of Centralia, Kim Kingsley and husband Bill of Centralia, Kelly Miller of Centralia, Kevin Miller and wife Vicki of Centralia, and Mike Hockett and wife Lora of Woodlawn; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; step-father: Howard Kunz and wife Virginia of Glen Carbon and step-brother: Gary Kunz and wife Margarett of Washington DC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law: Harvey Bodine and two half brothers.

Hermie worked for the City of Centralia for 35-plus years. He enjoyed deer hunting, being outdoors and mowing his yard. Hermie was a people person. He cherished the time he spent with his family, friends and his dogs.

Per Hermie’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centralia Humane Society and/or the Alzheimers Association and will be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, 618-532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Miller family.
